Pasos de preparación
- Localiza a fuga: Identify the exact location of the crack or hole in the tank.
- Baleirar o tanque: Ensure the tank is completely empty of its contents. For water or coolant tanks, drain thoroughly.
- Limpar a zona: Thoroughly clean the area around the leak. Remove any dirt, grease, oil, or loose debris. Use a suitable cleaner and allow the surface to dry completely.
- Roughen the Surface: Lightly abrade the surface around the leak with sandpaper or a similar abrasive to create a rough texture. This improves adhesion of the epoxy.
- Cut Fiberglass Patch: Cut the fiberglass membrane to a size that adequately covers the leak with an overlap of at least 1 inch on all sides.
Procedemento de solicitude
- Mix the Epoxy: Open the two-part epoxy pouch. Knead the pouch for approximately one minute until the two components are thoroughly mixed and a uniform color is achieved. Work quickly as the epoxy begins to set rapidly.
- Apply First Layer: Cut a corner of the mixed epoxy pouch. Apply approximately half of the mixed epoxy directly over the prepared leak area.
- Position Fiberglass Patch: Immediately place the cut fiberglass membrane over the applied epoxy, ensuring it fully covers the leak and adheres well to the surface.
- Apply Second Layer: Apply the remaining epoxy over the fiberglass patch, ensuring the patch is completely saturated and covered. Use the applicator stick to spread the epoxy evenly and smooth out any air bubbles.
- Permitir configuración: The epoxy will begin to set in approximately 5 minutes. Avoid disturbing the repaired area during this time.
- Cura completa: Allow the repair to cure for a minimum of 4 hours before refilling the tank or subjecting it to stress. For optimal strength, a full cure may take up to 24 hours, depending on temperature and humidity.

Resolución de problemas
Epoxy Hardens Too Quickly
Problema: The epoxy hardens before it can be fully applied or spread.
Solución: The epoxy has a short working time (approximately 5 minutes). Ensure all preparation steps are completed and the fiberglass patch is cut to size antes mixing the epoxy. Work quickly and efficiently once mixing begins. Ambient temperature can also affect working time; cooler temperatures may extend it slightly, while warmer temperatures will shorten it.
Repair Does Not Hold
Problema: The repaired area continues to leak or the patch detaches.
Solución:
- Verify that the tank material is compatible with the repair kit (e.g., not polyethylene, polypropylene, or plastic fuel tanks).
- Ensure the surface was thoroughly cleaned and roughened before application. Any contaminants (oil, grease, dirt) or a smooth surface will prevent proper adhesion.
- Confirm the epoxy was mixed completely and applied evenly, fully saturating the fiberglass patch.
- Allow sufficient curing time (at least 4 hours, preferably 24 hours) before reintroducing contents or stress.
