1. Introdución

The TC Electronic SENTRY NOISE GATE is a high-quality multiband noise-gating pedal designed to provide noise-free and dynamically responsive performances. It features both multiband and hard-gate modes, along with built-in TonePrint functionality for extensive customization.

2. Configuración

2.1 Conexión de alimentación

Connect a standard 9V DC power adapter (center-negative, 0.1 milliamps minimum) to the power input jack on the top of the pedal. The pedal can also be powered by a 9V battery (not included).

2.2 Conexións de audio

Use standard 1/4 inch TRS instrument cables for audio connections.

• Entrada: Connect your instrument (guitar, bass, etc.) or the output of previous pedals in your signal chain to the ENTRADA jack.

• Send/Return Loop: The SENTRY NOISE GATE features a dedicated Send/Return loop for integrating noisy pedals (e.g., high-gain distortion, overdrive, fuzz) into the gate's detection circuit.

• Connect the output of your noisy pedal(s) to the RETORNO jack.

3.1 Controisview

• LÍMITE: Sets the level at which the noise gate engages. Signals below this threshold will be attenuated or cut.
• DAMP: Controls the amount of signal reduction when the gate is closed. Higher settings result in a more aggressive cut.
• DECADENCIA: Adjusts how quickly the gate closes after the input signal drops below the threshold. A faster decay provides a tighter cut, while a slower decay allows for more natural note endings.
• MODE Switch (GATE/TONEPRINT/HISS): Selects the noise-gating algorithm.
• PORTA: A traditional hard-gate mode for immediate and complete signal cutoff. Ideal for high-gain applications requiring absolute silence between notes.
• IMPRESIÓN TONAL: Activates custom TonePrint settings uploaded via the TonePrint App or software.
• HISS: A multiband noise gate designed to target and eliminate specific frequency ranges of noise (e.g., 60-cycle hum, high-frequency hiss) without affecting the core tone.

3.2 Engaging the Pedal

Press the footswitch to toggle the effect on or off. The LED indicator will illuminate when the effect is active.

3.3 TonePrint Functionality

The SENTRY NOISE GATE is TonePrint enabled, allowing you to beam custom-tuned effects from your smartphone to the pedal or create your own via the TonePrint Editor software.

• TonePrint App (Mobile): Download the free TC Electronic TonePrint App for iOS or Android. Select the SENTRY NOISE GATE, choose from a library of artist TonePrints or create your own, and 'beam' it to your pedal by holding your phone's speaker near your guitar's pickup.
• TonePrint Editor (Desktop): Connect the pedal to your computer via the USB port. Use the TonePrint Editor software to dive deep into parameters and craft unique noise gate settings.

4. Mantemento

• Limpeza: Usa un pano suave e seco para limpar o exterior do pedal. Evita produtos de limpeza abrasivos ou solventes.

• Substitución da batería: If using battery power, replace the 9V battery when the LED indicator dims or the pedal's performance degrades. Access the battery compartment by removing the bottom plate screws.

5 Solución de problemas

5.1 Sen son

• Ensure the power adapter is correctly connected and functioning, or the battery is fresh.
• Check all instrument cables for proper connection and integrity.
• Verifique que o amplifier and other connected equipment are powered on and functioning.
• If the gate is set too aggressively (high THRESHOLD, high DAMP), it might cut off desired signal. Adjust controls.

5.2 Unwanted Noise Still Present

• Axustar o LÍMITE knob to find the optimal setting where noise is eliminated without cutting off desired notes.
• Experimenta con DAMP e DECADENCIA settings to fine-tune the gate's response.
• Utilize the Send/Return loop for noisy pedals to ensure the gate detects the clean signal before the noise-generating effects.
• Try switching between PORTA e SEU modes to see which algorithm is more effective for your specific noise type.

5.3 TonePrint Not Beaming

• Ensure your smartphone's volume is at maximum.
• Hold the phone's speaker directly over one of your guitar's pickups.
• Make sure the pedal is powered on and in IMPRESIÓN DE TONOS modo.
• If using the desktop editor, ensure the USB cable is securely connected and the correct drivers are installed.
