4. Configuración

To prepare your Sizzix Big Shot Foldaway machine for use:

1. Unfold the machine's platforms by gently pulling them outwards until they lock into place.
2. Locate the handle and the small bag containing the screw, washer, and Allen key.
3. Slide the handle onto the spindle on the side of the machine.
4. Place the washer onto the screw, then insert the screw into the end of the spindle and tighten it with the Allen key until secure.
5. Ensure the handle rotates smoothly.

5.1 Die-Cutting

Die-cutting involves using dies to cut shapes from various materials. The machine applies pressure to achieve precise cuts.

1. Place the desired die (Bigz, Thinlits, or Framelits) onto the machine's platform.
2. Lay your chosen material (e.g., cardstock, felt, fabric) over the die.
3. Place a cutting pad on top of the material and die, creating a 'sandwich'.
4. Insert the assembled sandwich into the machine's opening.
5. Turn the handle to feed the sandwich through the rollers. The machine will apply even pressure to cut the material.
6. Retrieve the cut material and die from the other side.

5.2 Embossing

Embossing creates raised or recessed designs on your material using embossing folders.

1. Open the embossing folder and place your chosen material inside.
2. Close the embossing folder.
3. Place the embossing folder (with material inside) onto the machine's platform.
4. Place a cutting pad on top of the embossing folder, creating a 'sandwich'.
5. Insert the assembled sandwich into the machine's opening.
6. Turn the handle to feed the sandwich through the rollers.
7. Retrieve the embossed material from the other side.

6. Mantemento

• Keep the machine clean and free of debris. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down surfaces.
• Store the machine in its folded position in a dry, cool place to protect it from dust and damage.
• Inspect cutting pads regularly for excessive wear. Replace worn pads to ensure optimal cutting performance.
• Store dies and embossing folders in the machine's built-in compartments or other suitable storage solutions to prevent loss or damage.

7 Solución de problemas

• Poor Cuts/Incomplete Cuts: Ensure the correct 'sandwich' combination of platforms and cutting pads is used for your specific die type and material. Refer to the platform's instructions for guidance. Worn cutting pads can also lead to poor cuts; try rotating or replacing them.
• Difficulty Turning Handle: Do not force the handle. This may indicate an incorrect 'sandwich' combination that is too thick for the machine's rollers. Adjust your layers according to the platform's instructions.
• Machine Movement During Use: Ensure the machine is placed on a clean, flat, and stable surface. The non-slip pads on the base should prevent movement.
