4. Guía de configuración

To establish a MoCA network, you typically need at least two MoCA adapters, or one adapter if your existing modem/router has built-in MoCA capabilities. Ensure your coaxial wiring is properly configured for MoCA.

4.1. Lista de verificación previa á instalación

  • Coaxial Wiring: All coaxial outlets you intend to use must be wired to the same central splitter. Isolated outlets will prevent MoCA from functioning.
  • MoCA-Compatible Splitters: For best results, ensure any coaxial splitters in your home are MoCA-compatible (rated for frequencies up to 1675 MHz or higher).
  • Compatibilidade: Not compatible with satellite TV systems (DirecTV, DISH) or AT&T Internet/U-verse coax networks due to frequency overlap.

4.2. Basic Installation Steps

  1. Connect the First Adapter (Near Router):
    • Connect one end of the provided coaxial cable to a coaxial wall outlet.
    • Connect the other end of this coaxial cable to the MoCA 2.5 Coax Port on the first HTEM4 adapter.
    • Conecte un extremo do cable Ethernet fornecido ao Porto Ethernet de 1 Gbps on the HTEM4 adapter.
    • Conecta o outro extremo do cable Ethernet a un porto LAN dispoñible no teu enrutador ou módem.
    • Connect the AC power adapter to the Porto de alimentación on the HTEM4 adapter and plug it into a power outlet. The Power LED should turn green.
  2. Connect the Second Adapter (Remote Location):
    • In the desired remote location, connect one end of a coaxial cable to a coaxial wall outlet.
    • Connect the other end of this coaxial cable to the MoCA 2.5 Coax Port on the second HTEM4 adapter.
    • Conecte un extremo dun cable Ethernet ao Porto Ethernet de 1 Gbps on the second HTEM4 adapter.
    • Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the device you wish to connect (e.g., computer, gaming console, Wi-Fi extender).
    • Connect the AC power adapter to the Porto de alimentación on the second HTEM4 adapter and plug it into a power outlet. The Power LED should turn green.
  3. Verificar a conexión: After both adapters are powered on, the MoCA LED on both adapters should turn blue (for high-speed mode) or green (for low-speed mode), indicating a successful MoCA network connection. The Link LED on the Ethernet port should also illuminate, and the Activity LED may blink when data is transferred.

5. Funcionamento

Once properly installed, your Hitron HTEM4 MoCA 2.5 Network Adapters will automatically establish a high-speed wired connection over your home's coaxial cabling. This connection provides a stable, low-latency network backbone for various applications.

5.1. Benefits of MoCA

  • Enhanced Wi-Fi: By offloading wired devices from your Wi-Fi network, MoCA can improve overall Wi-Fi performance and speed.
  • Baixa latencia: Ideal for online gaming and video conferencing, providing a more responsive connection than Wi-Fi.
  • Buffer-Free Streaming: Supports 4K streaming and other high-bandwidth applications without buffering.

6. Mantemento

The Hitron HTEM4 MoCA 2.5 Network Adapter is designed for reliable, long-term operation with minimal maintenance. Follow these guidelines to ensure continued performance:

  • Manter ventilado: Ensure the adapter is placed in a location with adequate airflow to prevent overheating. Do not cover ventilation holes.
  • Limpar suavemente: Usa un pano suave e seco para limpar o exterior do dispositivo. Evita produtos de limpeza líquidos ou materiais abrasivos.
  • Integridade do cable: Periodically check coaxial and Ethernet cables for damage or loose connections. Secure connections can impact performance.
  • Ciclo de enerxía: If you experience network issues, try power cycling the adapter by unplugging it from the power outlet for 10 seconds and then plugging it back in.

7 Solución de problemas

If you encounter issues with your MoCA network, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemaCausa posibleSolución
No MoCA connection (MoCA LED is off)
  • Coaxial cable not connected or loose.
  • Only one MoCA adapter is in use, and your router does not have built-in MoCA.
  • Coaxial outlets are not connected to the same central splitter.
  • Incompatible coaxial splitters.
  • Incompatible service (e.g., satellite TV, AT&T U-verse).
  • Ensure all coaxial cables are securely connected to the MoCA 2.5 Coax Port and wall outlet.
  • Confirm you have at least two MoCA adapters, or that your router has active MoCA functionality.
  • Verify that all coaxial outlets are part of a continuous network. Consult a professional if unsure about your home's wiring.
  • Replace non-MoCA compatible splitters with MoCA-compatible ones (rated 1675 MHz or higher).
  • Confirm your internet service provider (ISP) supports MoCA.
Slow network speeds or intermittent connection
  • Poor quality or damaged coaxial cables.
  • Excessive or non-MoCA compatible splitters.
  • Interferencias doutros dispositivos.
  • MoCA adapter placed in a location with poor signal quality.
  • Inspect coaxial cables for damage and replace if necessary. Use high-quality coaxial cables.
  • Minimize the number of splitters and ensure they are MoCA-compatible.
  • Ensure the MoCA adapters are not placed near strong sources of electromagnetic interference.
  • Try relocating the adapter to a different coaxial outlet to see if performance improves.
Ethernet device not connecting (Link LED is off)
  • Ethernet cable not connected or damaged.
  • Device connected to the adapter is off or malfunctioning.
  • Ensure the Ethernet cable is securely connected to both the adapter and the network device. Try a different Ethernet cable.
  • Verify that the connected network device is powered on and functioning correctly.
O LED de alimentación está apagado
  • Adaptador de corrente non conectado.
  • A toma de corrente non está activa.
  • Faulty power adapter or adapter.
  • Ensure the AC power adapter is securely connected to the adapter and a working power outlet.
