5. Configuración e instalación

Proper installation is crucial for safe and effective braking. If you are unsure about any step, consult a professional bicycle mechanic.

  1. Prepara a túa bicicleta: Ensure your bike is stable, preferably on a repair stand. Remove the old brake caliper if applicable.
  2. Identify Caliper Type: Determine if you have a front (F160 R140) or rear (F180 R160) caliper. The numbers indicate the recommended rotor sizes (F=Front, R=Rear, numbers are rotor diameter in mm).

  8. Connect Brake Cable: Route the brake cable from your brake lever to the caliper. Insert the cable end into the caliper's cable anchor bolt and tighten it securely. Ensure there is no excessive slack in the cable.
  9. Adjust Brake Pad Clearance: Use the barrel adjuster on the caliper (if present) or the cable tension adjuster on the lever to fine-tune the brake pad clearance. The pads should be close to the rotor but not rubbing when the brake is disengaged.

  11. Test Braking: Squeeze the brake lever firmly several times to ensure proper engagement and release. Check for any rubbing or unusual noises. Make final adjustments as needed.

6. Funcionamento

To operate the disc brakes, gently squeeze the corresponding brake lever on your handlebars. The amount of braking force is proportional to the pressure applied to the lever. For optimal control and safety, apply both front and rear brakes simultaneously, with slightly more pressure on the front brake for maximum stopping power, but avoid locking up the front wheel.
