The Fluke 2042 system consists of two main units: the Transmitter (2042T) and the Receiver (2042R).

Before first use, ensure both the Transmitter and Receiver have sufficient power. The units come with batteries included.

5.1. Basic Cable Tracing

  1. Encendido: Turn on both the Transmitter (2042T) and the Receiver (2042R).
  2. Conectar o transmisor: Connect the 2042T to the cable or circuit to be traced. For live circuits, ensure the voltage is within the specified range (up to 400V AC/DC).
  3. Select Mode (Receiver): On the 2042R, select the appropriate mode (e.g., automatic or manual sensitivity adjustment) using the control buttons.
  4. Trace Cable: Move the 2042R Receiver along the suspected path of the cable. The display will show the signal level and code. The acoustical signal can be switched on for audible feedback.
  5. Identify Signal: The digitally coded signal ensures that you are tracing the correct cable, preventing false readings from other sources. The "CODE" display on both units should match.
  6. Pinpoint Location: The signal strength (LEVEL) on the receiver's display will increase as you get closer to the cable. Use this to pinpoint the exact location.
