1. Introdución

This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your JBC 30ST Soldering Iron. Designed for precision electronic work, this 25W soldering iron features a rapid heating system and is supplied with a durable, heat-resistant R-10D tip.

The JBC 30ST is a versatile tool, ideal for laboratory electronic work and circuit assembly, offering efficient heat utilization and quick temperature recovery.

2. Información de seguridade

Always read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before using this product.

  • Seguridade eléctrica: Ensure the soldering iron is connected to a properly grounded power outlet. Do not use with damaged cords or plugs. Disconnect from power when not in use or during maintenance.
  • Risco de queimada: The soldering iron tip and surrounding metal parts reach very high temperatures (up to 380°C). Always use extreme caution to avoid contact with hot surfaces. Allow the iron to cool completely before storing.
  • Inhalación de fumes: Soldering produces fumes. Work in a well-ventilated area or use a fume extractor to avoid inhaling harmful fumes.
  • Protección ocular: Use sempre lentes de seguridade para protexer os ollos de salpicaduras de soldadura ou residuos proxectados.
  • Superficie de traballo: Use a heat-resistant work surface. Keep flammable materials away from the soldering area.
  • Nenos e animais: Manteña o soldador fóra do alcance dos nenos e das mascotas.

This image displays the retail packaging for the JBC 30ST Soldering Iron. The box features the JBC logo, website (www.jbctools.com), and product descriptions in multiple languages including English ('Pencil Soldering Iron'), Spanish, French, German, and Italian. The soldering iron itself, with its distinctive blue and black handle and silver tip, is visible on the right side of the packaging. The model number '30 ST' and power '230V-25W' are also printed on the side of the tool.

4. Configuración

  1. Desembalaxe: Retire coidadosamente todos os compoñentes da embalaxe.
  2. Tip Installation (if not pre-installed): Ensure the soldering iron is unplugged and cool. Gently insert the R-10D tip into the heating element receptacle until it is seated firmly. Do not force it.
  3. Conexión de alimentación: Plug the three-conductor power cable into a compatible 220V grounded electrical outlet.
  4. Quecemento inicial: Once plugged in, the soldering iron will begin to heat. It takes approximately 2 minutes and 15 seconds to reach 300°C, with a maximum operating temperature of 380°C.

5. Instrucións de funcionamento

Follow these steps for effective soldering:

  1. Enlatando o consello: Before first use and periodically during operation, apply a small amount of solder to the hot tip. This 'tins' the tip, protecting it from oxidation and ensuring efficient heat transfer.
  2. Cleaning the Tip: Usa anuncioamp sponge or brass wool tip cleaner to wipe off excess solder and oxidation from the tip before and after each use.
  3. Applying Heat: Place the clean, tinned tip against both the component lead and the solder pad simultaneously.
  4. Applying Solder: Once the joint is hot enough (typically a few seconds), apply solder to the opposite side of the joint from the iron. The solder should flow smoothly and quickly around the joint. Do not apply solder directly to the iron tip.
  5. Removing the Iron: Once the solder has flowed, remove the soldering iron first, then the solder. Allow the joint to cool undisturbed.
  6. Enfriamento: When finished, unplug the soldering iron and place it in a safe, heat-resistant stand. Allow it to cool completely before handling or storing.

6. Mantemento

Proper maintenance extends the life of your soldering iron:

  • Limpeza de consellos: Regularly clean the tip using a damp sponge or brass wool. For stubborn oxidation, use a tip tinner/cleaner compound. A well-maintained tip will be shiny and accept solder easily.
  • Substitución da punta: Replace the tip when it becomes pitted, corroded, or no longer accepts solder easily, even after cleaning and tinning. Ensure the iron is cool and unplugged before changing tips.
  • Handle and Cord: Keep the handle clean and free of solder. Inspect the power cord regularly for any signs of damage (cuts, fraying). If damaged, discontinue use and seek professional repair.
  • Almacenamento: Store the soldering iron in a dry, safe place, away from dust and moisture, once it has completely cooled.
