5.1. Fonte de enerxía

Your White Sew E-Z Mini Portable Sewing Machine can be powered by either batteries or an AC power adapter.

  • Funcionamento da batería: Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the machine. Insert 4 "AA" batteries (not included), ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the compartment.
  • Funcionamento do adaptador de CA: Insert the small end of the AC power adapter into the DC input jack on the side of the machine. Plug the other end into a standard wall outlet.

Nota: Do not use both batteries and the AC adapter simultaneously. Remove batteries when using the AC adapter to prevent overheating and damage.

5.2. Winding the Bobbin

Proper bobbin winding is essential for consistent stitching. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Place an empty bobbin onto the bobbin winder spindle, ensuring it clicks into place.
  2. Place a spool of thread onto the spool pin.
  3. Guía o fío a través do disco tensor da bobina.
  4. Wrap the thread around the empty bobbin a few times clockwise.
  5. Push the bobbin winder spindle to the right (towards the handwheel) to engage the winding mechanism.
  6. Turn on the machine (or press the foot pedal) to start winding. The machine will automatically stop when the bobbin is full.
  7. Once winding is complete, cut the thread, push the bobbin winder spindle back to the left, and remove the full bobbin.

5.3. Inserting the Bobbin

This machine uses a top-loading bobbin system. Correct insertion is critical to avoid thread jams and skipped stitches.

  1. Asegúrese de que a máquina estea apagada e desenchufada.
  2. Slide the bobbin cover plate open (usually located on the stitch plate directly under the needle).
  3. Insert the wound bobbin into the bobbin case. The thread should unwind in a counter-clockwise direction.
  4. Guide the bobbin thread through the tension spring slot in the bobbin case. Ensure the thread is securely seated in the tension spring.
  5. Pull about 4-6 inches of bobbin thread out.
  6. Replace the bobbin cover plate, ensuring it snaps securely into place.

5.4. Threading the Upper Thread

Follow the numbered thread path indicated on your machine for correct upper threading.

  1. Raise the presser foot using the presser foot lifter.
  2. Place a spool of thread onto the spool pin.
  3. Guide the thread through the first upper thread guide (usually at the top of the machine).
  4. Bring the thread down and around the tension dial, ensuring it seats firmly between the tension discs.
  5. Guide the thread up and through the take-up lever (ensure the take-up lever is at its highest position by turning the handwheel towards you).
  6. Bring the thread down through the remaining thread guides towards the needle.
  7. Thread the needle from front to back. A needle threader (if included) can assist with this step. Pull about 6 inches of thread through the needle eye.

5.5. Bringing Up the Bobbin Thread

This step connects the upper and lower threads to form a stitch.

  1. Hold the upper thread gently with your left hand.
  2. Turn the handwheel towards you slowly, lowering the needle into the needle plate and then raising it back up.
  3. As the needle rises, it will catch the bobbin thread, forming a loop.
  4. Use a pair of tweezers or your fingers to pull this loop up through the needle plate.
  5. Pull both the upper and bobbin threads under the presser foot and towards the back of the machine, leaving about 4-6 inches of thread tails.

6. Instrucións de funcionamento

6.1. Preparing to Sew

  1. Ensure the machine is properly threaded (both upper and bobbin threads).
  2. Coloque o tecido debaixo do pé prensatela.
  3. Lower the presser foot onto the fabric.
  4. Turn the handwheel towards you to lower the needle into the fabric at the starting point of your seam.

6.2. Starting to Sew

You can operate the machine using either the hand switch or the foot pedal.

  • Hand Switch: Slide the power switch to the "ON" position. Some models may have a speed setting (e.g., "LOW" or "HIGH"). Select your desired speed.
  • Pedal: Ensure the foot pedal is plugged into the machine's foot pedal jack. Press down on the foot pedal to start sewing. The harder you press, the faster the machine will sew (if variable speed is supported).

Guide the fabric gently with both hands as it feeds under the needle. Do not pull or push the fabric forcefully, as this can bend the needle or affect stitch quality.

6.3. Adjusting Thread Tension

The tension dial controls the tightness of the upper thread. Proper tension results in balanced stitches where the upper and lower threads meet evenly within the fabric layers.

  • If the bobbin thread appears on the top side of the fabric, the upper thread tension is too tight. Turn the tension dial to a lower number.
  • If the upper thread appears on the bottom side of the fabric, the upper thread tension is too loose. Turn the tension dial to a higher number.

Always test tension on a scrap piece of your fabric before sewing your project.

6.4. Finishing a Seam

  1. Stop sewing when you reach the end of your seam.
  2. Xire o volante cara a vostede para subir a agulla á súa posición máis alta.
  3. Levante o pé prensatela.
  4. Pull the fabric gently towards the back of the machine.
  5. Cut both the upper and bobbin threads, leaving about 4-6 inches of thread tails.

7. Mantemento

7.1. Limpeza

Regular cleaning helps maintain your machine's performance.

  • Desenchufe sempre a máquina antes de limpala.
  • Use a small brush (often included with sewing machines) to remove lint and dust from the bobbin area and under the stitch plate.
  • Limpa o exterior da máquina cun pano suave e seco. Non empregues produtos químicos agresivos nin produtos de limpeza abrasivos.

7.2. Almacenamento

When not in use, store your sewing machine in a dry, dust-free environment. It is recommended to cover the machine to protect it from dust.
