Instalación
Mounting the Breakaway Box and Switch
The breakaway system's battery box and switch can be easily installed using screws or rivets. It is recommended to mount the unit on the trailer frame for convenience and stability. The rugged heavy-duty PP case provides protection from moisture and debris, but for prolonged durability, consider mounting it in a location that offers additional shelter from direct exposure to extreme weather conditions.

The system comes with pre-wired, color-coded cables for straightforward connection:
- Branco: Terra
- Azul: Freos
- Negro: Battery (12V input from tow vehicle or house battery for charging)
Refer to the wiring diagram below for proper connection to your trailer's electrical system. Ensure all connections are secure and insulated to prevent short circuits.

Breakaway Switch Cable Installation
Connect the breakaway switch cable to your tow vehicle. The cable should be long enough to allow for turns but short enough to pull the pin and activate the brakes if the trailer separates from the vehicle. Attach the cable securely to a non-removable part of the tow vehicle, such as a bumper clevis or safety chain pocket, ensuring it will pull the pin from the switch if the trailer detaches.

Operación
Automatic Brake Activation
In the event of an accidental trailer breakaway, the breakaway switch pin will be pulled, automatically activating the trailer's electric brakes. This ensures the trailer comes to a safe stop, preventing potential accidents.

Battery Charging and Testing
The built-in 12V 5Ah battery can be charged from your tow vehicle's electrical system or the house battery of your trailer when connected. It is crucial to check the battery charge before each towing journey to ensure the system is ready for use.
The unit features a "TEST" button and LED indicators to quickly assess the battery's charge level:
- LED verde: Totalmente cargado
- LED amarelo: Recharged (sufficient charge)
- LED vermello: Charging (low charge)

Mantemento
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliability of your SanHima Breakaway Kit:
- Comprobación da batería: Always verify the battery charge level using the "TEST" button before each trip. A fully charged battery is essential for proper operation.
- Protección ambiental: While the unit features a robust PP case, it is not fully waterproof. If mounted in an exposed area, consider adding additional protection from direct water exposure to prolong its lifespan.
- Substitución da unidade: For optimal safety and performance, it is recommended to replace the entire breakaway unit, including the battery and switch, every 3-5 years, or if any signs of wear, damage, or reduced performance are observed.
Resolución de problemas
- No LED Indication when pressing TEST:
- Check all wiring connections (White: Ground, Black: Battery) for looseness or corrosion.
- Ensure the tow vehicle or house battery is providing 12V power to the black wire for charging.
- The internal battery may be completely discharged or at the end of its lifespan. Allow time for charging or consider replacing the unit.
- Brakes do not activate upon pin pull:
- Verify the blue wire connection to the trailer brakes is secure.
- Check the battery charge level using the TEST button. A low or dead battery will prevent brake activation.
- Inspect the breakaway switch and pin for any physical damage or obstruction.
