Atago 3405 PR-32α Palette Series Portable Digital Refractometer

Model: ATA-3405

Introdución

O Atago 3405 PR-32α Palette is a portable digital refractometer designed for precise measurement of low Brix concentrations (0.0 to 32.0%) in various liquid samples. This device is ideal for applications in food and beverage, chemical, and industrial sectors, providing accurate results with automatic temperature compensation (ATC) and external light interference (ELI) technology.

This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your Atago PR-32α refractometer to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

Configuración

1. Instalación da batería

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the refractometer.
  2. Abra a tapa do compartimento da batería.
  3. Insira a pila de 9 V incluída, asegurándose de manter a polaridade correcta (+/-).
  4. Pecha a tapa do compartimento da batería de forma segura.

2. Initial Calibration (Zero Setting)

For accurate measurements, the refractometer must be calibrated with distilled water before first use and periodically thereafter.

  1. Ensure the refractometer is clean and dry.
  2. Place a few drops of distilled water onto the sample well (prism surface). Ensure the prism surface is completely covered.
  3. Preme o COMEZAR botón para acender o dispositivo.
  4. Preme o CERO button (refer to device buttons for exact labeling if different from generic). The display should show "0.0%" or similar, indicating successful calibration.
  5. Wipe the distilled water from the sample well using a soft, lint-free cloth.

Note: Calibration should be performed at an ambient temperature between 5 to 40 degrees C.

Instrucións de funcionamento

1. Facer unha medida

  1. Garantir o sample well is clean and dry.
  2. Place one to two drops of the liquid sample ao sample well (prism surface). Ensure the prism is fully covered without air bubbles.
  3. Close the daylight plate (if applicable) gently over the sample.
  4. Preme o COMEZAR botón para iniciar la medición.
  5. The % Brix reading will be displayed on the LED screen within approximately three seconds. The device automatically compensates for temperature variations within its operating range (5 to 40 degrees C).
  6. Gravar a medición se é necesario.
  7. After measurement, clean the sample well thoroughly with distilled water and a soft cloth.

2. Using the User-Scale Function

The PR-32α features a user-scale function, allowing you to input a coefficient to convert the Brix reading into a specific concentration unit relevant to your sample (e.g., concentration = Brix X coefficient).

  • Refer to the detailed instructions in the full user manual (if provided separately) or Atago's official website for specific steps on programming and utilizing the user-scale function.
  • This function is particularly useful for specific industrial or chemical applications where a direct Brix reading needs conversion to a custom unit.

3. External Light Interference (ELI) Technology

The refractometer incorporates ELI technology, which minimizes interference from strong external light sources (e.g., direct sunlight, bright windows). This ensures accurate measurements even when operating outdoors or near bright light sources.

Mantemento

1. Cleaning the Sample Ben

  • Limpe sempre o sample well (stainless steel 316 prism surface) immediately after each use.
  • Use distilled water and a soft, lint-free cloth or tissue to gently wipe away any sampo residuo.
  • Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the prism surface.
  • Garantir o sample well is completely dry before storing the device or taking a new measurement.

2. Coidados xerais e almacenamento

  • The device has an Ingress Protection (IP)-65 rating, offering protection against dust and splashing water. However, avoid submerging the unit in water or exposing it to excessive moisture.
  • Store the refractometer in its carrying case when not in use to protect it from dust, dirt, and physical damage.
  • Almacenar nun lugar fresco e seco, lonxe da luz solar directa e de temperaturas extremas.
  • If the device will not be used for an extended period, remove the 9V battery to prevent leakage.
